Hello! Thank you for being here. What in the world is a “Geekamuffin” and how did we get here?

Geekamuffins is both a person and now a category of delicious baked goods. I’m Alice and my big brother once called me a “Geekamuffin” back in the early 90’s… (maybe late 80’s) and since then it stuck! When it was time to choose a name for my baking business “Geekamuffins” seemed like the unique and perfect choice.
I specialize in cupcakes, decorated cookies, small cakes and now macarons. I use my background in art & design to create beautiful baked goods which are also delicious – bonus!

I came to baking by way of a desk job, a desire to return to my artistic roots and a love for the science behind it all. You see, I went to school first for Business Administration and when that was clearly not for me (Accounting 101 may have had a hand in that decision) I switched to Interior Design. I ended up graduating with a BFA in Interior Architecture and went off to work for an Architecture firm right out of school. Never mind that most projects in school were restaurants or cafes with planned menus and post-graduation my daily dinners were the most exciting part of my day. Even as a kid, I planned party menus, saved recipes and was very adventurous out to dinner with my family. How did I not know?! Needless to say, I was meant to work with my hands as an artist and spend my life with food. Enter my medium: baked goods.

After a wedding, a move, a recession and a failed attempt at a blog, I got a job where I sat behind a desk all day. Fast forward 6 years and there I was handing in my notice to explore a career as a Bakery Chef. I learned on the job, took a class and gained an extensive cookbook collection. What else happened in those 6 years I toiled away in an office? Now that’s a story for another day. After hours in the kitchen, I’m so glad to be here and can’t wait to meet you all and serve you all the baked goods.
